Beading - sometimes known as scotia - is used to cover up the expansion gaps left between the floor and the skirting board. Beading comes in a variety of colours to suit a range of floors. We’ve a massive range of laminate, engineered and vinyl flooring here at Discount Flooring Depot, and it’d be impossible to have beading to match every single type.
However, we’ve a range of colours offering a very close match to our floors. This black beading for example, would be perfect for very dark floors, which are some of our most popular.
If you’re not sure what beading might be best for your floor, get in touch with our customer service team, or request a call back and we’ll get back in touch as soon as we can to help you right. The right beading can make all the difference and really bring the quality of your floor to the next level.
All wooden floor installation guidelines advise that an expansion gap should be left around any skirting board, wall or door edge to allow room for expansion and contraction. Our popular black beading is a perfect accessory as this is placed over the expansion gap and secured to the wall or skirting board.
To calculate how much beading you need, you will need to measure the perimeter of the room. If your room is 4 metres long by 5 metres wide, the the perimeter is 20 metres. 4m+4m+5m+5m. You then divide the perimeter of the room by the length of the beading. 20 metres divided by 2.4 metres is 8.33. Therefore you will need 9 lengths for beading.
IT IS STRONGLY RECOMMENDED TO ONLY BOOK A FITTER ONCE YOUR FLOORING HAS ARRIVED AND IS THOROUGHLY CHECKED
Good quality easy to use finishes the floor off nicely
