A common flooring installation method for laminate flooring is to use an underlay and simply 'float' the floor. However, another method of installing a floor is to use an adhesive to stick the floor directly to the subfloor. This is essential particularly if you are installing a solid wood floor or certain types of engineered wood. If floating is the installation method you are using for a Tongue and Groove engineered floor is it critical that the joints of the boards are glued together, PVA glue can help fulfill this task. Many other adhesives are also available such as the primer that provides a Damp Proof Membrane and the clic seal adhesive to help provide protection against moisture on the joints. As well as these adhesives and glues, tools such as the applicator gun and a v-notch trowel can also be purchased to help make the application of any of the products discussed easier.
