Our Hillwood Collection Lacquered Oak Floor is a great choice for any home - with 125mm wide boards the appearance of the room size will not be affected! This means that whether you're installing it in an open plan space, or a cosy box room, it will fit in beautifully.
Made from 3 ply with a 5mm wear layer and 18mm depth overall, this floor will last years in your home and should you want to change the look of it, you can sand it down and retreat it however you like. If you decide that you don't want to do this, you can sit back and watch your floor take on a natural aged look that will impress you for years to come.
As this floor is not dark, it will help with lighting in your home, so you have no need to worry about the light being drained from whichever room it is laid in.
This floor is a traditional looking oak floor, so you have a great opportunity when it comes to interior design - if you like ultra modern, go for the simplistic look. With this floor all you need to do is make sure the room is not cluttered, the natural grain of the wood will add character, and minimalist furniture and decor will be accentuated by this. If you prefer a more homely look, earthy colours and oak furniture will tie in perfectly.
Engineered wood flooring grants greater stability to moisture and heat than solid wood flooring due to the multiple-ply core. As a result, engineered flooring can be installed in all areas of the house and over underfloor heating.
After sanding, each floor is prefinished with 5 coats of aluminum oxide which has the dual benefit of offering protection to the surface, while also enhancing the visual appearance of the floor.
Being a natural product each board is unique in colour, mineral grain, degree of knots and sapwood. All of these natural features enhance the overall characteristics of such a beautiful oak floor. Each product in the Hillwood Collection has been classified as rustic grade.
The floor is then finished with a protective UV lacquer resulting in a smooth finish. This finish will help protect the floor and it will also help with cleaning, as the majority of materials you could spill on this floor will not be able to seep into the wood itself, just make sure not to let any stains lie.
All natural flooring products will contain a mixture of prime quality boards (no knotting), a proportion of 'first sort' (knots with filler, grain and colour variation) and 'second sort' (oak with larger knots, grain and strong colour variation). As solid and engineered wood flooring are natural products some boards may display heavy grain markings and figuring, wider colour variations and frequent knots of varying sizes and splits in which filler may be used.
