Laminate Flooring FAQs

Why choose laminate flooring?

Laminate flooring is very hygienic and doesn't attract or absorb dirt plus cleaning laminate is very easy. People who suffer from asthma or allergies benefit from laminate flooring as dust and pollen can be easily removed from the surface.

Compared to solid wood flooring, laminates are less likely to dent and scratch. This makes it an ideal choice for busy households or for areas which received a lot of foot traffic.

How do know how much laminate flooring you need?

When it comes to how to measure for laminate flooring, measuring a square or rectangular room could not be easier. First, use your measuring tape to measure the length then the breadth of the room. Then, multiply these numbers by one another to get your square footage. For example, is your room is 5m x 5m, you have a 25m² room.

Once you’ve established your measurements, it's important to add around 10% of your total size to your total square footage, in order for the boards to be staggered when you lay them. This will also ensure you have enough ‘wastage’ to cover any board irregularities and cutting errors.

Is laminate flooring easy to install?

Laminate flooring is also easy to install due to the click locking system on each board. Many competent DIY enthusiasts will be able to install laminate by using the installation guide on this site, although we do recommend a professional floor fitter to install your flooring.

How do you clean laminate flooring?

First things first; ensure your laminate flooring is well swept and dusted. Laminate flooring is scratch-resistant, but any build-up of hair, dirt, or any other debris can cause scratches to develop if they are allowed to build up or are ground into the floor by shoes and feet.

Simply sweep a dry microfibre mop across the floor every few days to gather up any debris and dirt, making sure to sweep in the direction the floor was laid in order to scoop up any dust and grime within the grooves. Avoid using a standard floor brush to do this, as the stiff bristles could cause accidental damage and scratches to your floor.
