Both underlay for laminate flooring and engineered wood floor underlay have a range of benefits to consider and can make a huge difference to the end result of your installation and the lifespan of your flooring. Subject to the type you choose, flooring underlay can help to even out your subfloor and provide a better laying surface, aid with soundproofing, make sure that you have no problems with water damage or heat escaping, and provide cushioning underfoot.
Whether you need extra insulation to keep your house warm, soundproofing for areas of heavy footfall, or a moisture barrier for damp areas of your home, you can find a wide range of laminate flooring underlay in our collection to suit the needs of every room.

It is essential to choose the right underlay for engineered wooden floors. Here at Discount Flooring Direct we have all the essential products to choose from.
The thickness you need will be determined by what floor you are putting down. Vinyl Click flooring will require our special LVT underlay, which is only 1.5mm thick. For laminate and engineered wood flooring, anything from our 2mm Platinum Plus to our 5mm Acoustic Gold will suit. It is also recommended that the underlay is not more than half the thickness of your new floor.
