Flooring underlay is used to float laminate flooring or engineered wood flooring. It provides a better laying surface for a wooden floor installation, giving you an even floor with a drastically improved life span.

Here at Discount Flooring Depot, we’d recommend that you always use underlay with your flooring installation. For more advice on why you need underlay, and the right kind of underlay to use according to your sub floor and home requirements, have a look at our guide, Why Should You Underlay Your Floor?

You’ll need to consider what type of sub floor you have (concrete, wood or tile?) and what floor the room you’re refurbishing is on. You’ll also need to look at the size of the area, whether you’re trying to reduce noise, and if underfloor heating is being used.

The right underlay will massively compliment your floor, and can make sure that you have no problems with water damage or heat escaping. Underlay can provide sound dampening and insulation to your home, keeping footsteps quiet and your home warm and cosy!
