They are two quite different materials so it really is hard to compare the two. If you are looking for a versatile alternative to a wooden floor covering then wood effect laminate flooring is a really great alternative. This enables you to achieve a similar look at a much more affordable price. In fact many people visiting your home won't even realise that they are standing on wood effect laminate. What you also have to consider is the huge job it is to lay a wooden floor, from the expensive job of checking the subfloor, to the underfloor heating and the sheer technical skill, from buying the materials, the tools to the wood itself. It really is a big job.
Our laminate wood flooring is available in a huge range of finishes from our popular brands. These include Premier Select, Aspect, Superior and Balterio. As our most popular finish it comes in all the colours available on our website so you are not stuck for choice
At DFD we have a huge range Oak Effect Laminate Flooring, which is one of our top sellers. We also sell:
Birch Laminate Flooring - this is a lighter colour than oak and looks very natural. The birch effect makes it look just like rood, with the natural grain of the material being replicated on the surface..
Walnut laminate flooring - this is much darker, having the rich swirls of natural walnut. We have a variety of different shades including many water resistant options
Teak Laminate Flooring - this follows the natural look of teak, which is a slightly redder wood than oak or walnut. The resemblance to real wood is remarkable with the natural grain effect of real teak really coming through!
The two materials will feel different underfoot. Laminate wood flooring has a softer, more giving feel underfoot, unlike wood which is much harder and cooler. Both need a good underlay and of course both can take underfloor heating too, but as a material laminate is naturally warmer.
It is a lot cheaper to lay than the real thing if only for the fact that it takes fewer tools and materials to do so. This means that if you need to get a professional in to lay the flooring for you then they will charge less than for laying wood.
As our most popular finish, needless to say there is a not a room in the house that is not suitable for wood laminate. However if you want to install in high moisture areas then choose one of our water resistant laminate ranges. Our heavier wood laminate is perfect for high foot fall rooms.
