First things first, Beading & Scotia are the same thing. Now that's been clarified, you're perhaps wondering what the point of beading is.
Beading is used when laying flooring that requires an expansion gap. You have three choices when laying new flooring:
Bring the flooring up to the wall (minus expansion) and fit skirting board above flooring to hide the expansion gap.
Bring the flooring up to the skirting board (minus expansion) and fit scotia above flooring to hide the expansion gap.
Bring the flooring up to the wall (minus expansion) and fit scotia above the flooring to hide the expansion gap.
Cost - Beading is significantly cheaper than skirting board. Its also much cheaper to fit as it can be secured using a simple bonding glue.
