Home Decor Ideas For Laminate Flooring
While it’s important to get your flooring in order, it’s not the be and all end all of creating a perfect room and a perfect home, despite what we might try and tell you here at Discount Flooring Depot! You’ll need to consider the rest of your room, and how best to compliment that new floor. Today we’re going to focus on laminate flooring for your bathroom and kitchen, and tips for really taking your room to the next level.
First of all, when shopping for a new floor for a bathroom or kitchen environment, you’ll want to make sure the floor is waterproof, and durable. In the bathroom, getting your floor wet is as inevitable as having to queue to use the shower in the morning, and in the kitchen, you’ll want a floor that can stand up to a tough cleaning regimen. Hygiene is vital in your kitchen, and it’s the room most susceptible to muddy footprints from humans and pets alike.
Our Hydro Guard laminates look like the real deal, as close to real wood as a laminate floor can hope to get. They’re ideal for heavy domestic and moderate commercial use, and are good to go with steam cleaners and heavy water exposure, without any risk of de-laminating. Or you could go the vinyl route. Even cheaper than laminate floors and just as durable, but for quality, you’ll want to stick to laminates.
But if you’ve already got your floor sorted, what can you do to bring the rest of the room to life as well?
Grey Toned, Rustic Floors
A grey toned laminate floor, like our Medium French Oak gives you the authentic look of reclaimed wood, and it fits excellently with a rustic design. A bathroom with a free standing tub or embelished cabinets. They work well with white cabinets, walls, and skirting, and will compliment any fitted white fixtures, like a sink or bath tub, and, well, the other bits of business you get up to in the bathroom.
If you can finish or paint your door to match the tone of the floor, it’ll really bring the room to life. The rustic look is easy to achieve and has the added benefit of making a little bit of untidiness or rough and readiness look intentional!
Modern Floors
If you want to go for the ultra modern look, strong grey, white, and black tones are the order of the day. These will give you that coveted Christian Grey look, well, in your bathroom or kitchen at least. As for your body and your bank balance, thats on you.
This flat grey tiled appearance below gives any bathroom a sleek and stylish look. Contrasing with stark blacks and whites gives the room a simple and quiet appeal.
Perfect for bachelor pads, or for a young couple looking to make their home the envy of their friends and colleagues. Notice how the soft light fixtures take the edge off the room slightly. They’d also be ideal lighting for a relaxing soak in the tub.
For a match, have a look at our Elite Stone Atlantic Flat tile effect laminate floor.
To get modern in the kitchen, white wood with a grey tone is also a smart choice. Notice how here, instead of going for a clinical, ultra modern look, the floor compliments the white walls and wooden furniture, really giving the room a sense of space.
Those soft fixtures are key again. You don’t want stark fluorescent lighting anywhere in your home, but it’ll look especially bleak against white, greys and blacks. Soft hot lights with gleaming chrome and white with wooden furniture thrown in will give you that modern look that still says family friendly. Our Sydney White Oak floor is an ideal match. White laminate flooring is one of our best sellers for good reason.
Oak Laminate Flooring
Oak laminate flooring comes in a variety of ranges and fits with a range of decor styles. For a classic look, a dark wood floor contrasts excellently with light pastel colours. This will work in a kitchen and a bathroom environment. A dark floor is ideal for a room with a lot of natural light, as in the gorgeous room below. If you’ve got a kitchen with a back door and lots of window real estate, a dark, chocolate coloured floor would be a good match. For less light, you should always go lighter. Our Premier Select Texas Oak is a lovely, rich dark oak with a V-groove for a realistic real wood, feel.
A similar rich, dark oak looks great in the kitchen too, with a faux handscraped look to add an authenticity to the floor, giving you all the appearance of a real wood floor, but with the benefits and convienience of a laminate.
If you spill wine on your laminate, you simply need to wipe it clean, no hassle, no fuss. Our Original Line Vintage Oak is a darker shade, but it would still look fantastic with the stone fixtures and rich, mahogany coloured furniture.
Of course, the best thing about home decorating is coming up with your own style, but we hope these inspirations have helped you plan your Spring and Summer renovations. With versatile laminate, you can make over any room in your home without having to worry about spillages or water damages. It’s much cheaper and handier than a real wood or even an engineered wood floor, and if laid correctly in a perfectly decorated room, people will struggle to notice the difference!
