Best Flooring For The Master Bedroom
When choosing your master bedroom flooring, it is important you consider the desired attributes – such as comfort, aesthetics, maintenance and durability – to ensure you select a beautiful, comfortable yet practical flooring option.
Bedroom flooring is a particularly intimate surface. It is the first thing your feet will step down on in the morning, and the last thing they will lift off before climbing into bed each night. So what flooring is best for the master bedroom?
Hardwood

Hardwood adds both beauty and value to any bedroom. This durable choice of flooring is one of the priciest woods available, it is easier to keep clean and less odour-absorbing than carpet.
Unfortunately though, hardwood is not the comfiest of flooring on bare feet. Most hardwood floors have little to no insulation, meaning your feet might be a little cold when you step out of bed in the morning. If you want hardwood for your bedroom it might be worth getting a rug on both sides of the bed, reducing the shock of standing up out of bed on a cold surface. Despite hardwood floors being a long lasting option, they still scratch and wear, especially in high-traffic areas, something to consider if your bedroom is child or pet friendly!
Vinyl

Vinyl is not a flooring option that instantly springs to mind when choosing bedroom flooring, however, it can make a great addition to a master bedroom. Vinyl is practical, easy to clean if your bedroom is multi purpose or kid and pet friendly, and due to the fact you can get it in endless styles, can look beautiful too.
There is nothing worse than getting out of bed onto a cold floor and luckily Vinyl has excellent heat insulation properties to help start your day on the right foot. Vinyl flooring is also a relatively soft material. Unlike natural hardwood, vinyl will actually yield slightly beneath your touch. This effect can be increased by purchasing padded back tiles that are manufactured with a foam or cork layer beneath the surface.
Carpet
Arguably, the most popular choice for flooring in master bedrooms, carpet is soft and warm on our feet, protecting us from cold toes on chilly mornings. It can also provide insulation for the space, keeping the room warm. The major drawback to bedroom carpet is the fact that it is more difficult to keep it clean than woods or laminates, dust collects on carpet, so it will need hoovering regularly but the added warmth and comfort surely outweighs any additional chores?

Laminate

The main benefit of fitting laminate flooring in the bedroom is that it is easy to keep clean which means far less maintenance than if you have carpet for example. It is long-lasting so you are likely to need to replace it less frequently than some other floor types, such as vinyl.
Laminate is available in a great range of designs and colours meaning you won’t be restricted on choice. Wood-effect laminate is a classic option that can look warm and traditional in bedrooms, but there are also tile-effect finishes which replicate the look of real floors perfectly but cost much less.
To add a personal touch to your bedroom flooring, a rug chosen in a corresponding colour to your room will look beautiful and can also rid any fears you have about laminate flooring being cold underfoot.
